SKU: N/A Categories: ,

Wanting to step into the world of sewing but don’t know where to start?

Learn to Sew is for complete beginners, where you can learn to sew with confidence. On this course, you will learn how to use a sewing machine and build an understanding of all parts, stitches and settings.

We will also teach you basic techniques including sewing accurate straight lines and corners, inserting a zip, topstitching and quilting. Throughout the class you will work to create an envelope cushion cover, reversible tote bag, and a wash bag with a zip fastening.

Come along and get inspired to sew!

We recommend you bring your own sewing machine, so that you can get to know your individual make/model. If you do not own a sewing machine we may be able to help. We only have a few machines available and they are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Paxton Jacket

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Make a Paxton Jacket in one of our classes and learn firsthand how to speed tailor a professional looking garment. The Paxton Jacket can be made in your choice of leather or fabric; complete kits will be available to purchase prior to the course.

The jacket is speed tailored using top-quality professional interfacing, with the addition of shoulder pads and sleeve heads. The jacket is fully lined, and is constructed with a bagged lining technique. You will learn how to sew a notched collar, attach a front zip fastening, introduce zip fastened welt pockets and zip fastened gussets on the sleeve cuffs.

During the course you will learn to understand the concept of speed tailoring and how you can apply these techniques to future garments. The pattern is designed to be constructed from leather and therefore the jacket can be sewn without any hand-sewing; however hand-sewing techniques may be adopted should individuals prefer.

It is necessary to have previous sewing and dressmaking experience. To make the most out of the course we recommend that students fit a sample garment prior to the course start date. This can be done at one of our Fitting Techniques workshops and we try to coincide these with the course dates. Join us to create a perfectly fitting, timeless, wardrobe staple.

Students will receive a FREE copy of the Paxton Jacket pattern with the course.
