Basler Cameras Integrated In drag&bot Robotics Software

In the past, programming of robots with vision components was a big challenge for many small and medium-sized companies. This usually required both robotics knowledge and knowledge of the manufacturer-specific robot programming language. The drag&bot software now simplifies the programming of industrial robots. Via drag and drop in the software’s graphical user interface, a program sequence can be defined by selecting and compiling individual function blocks.

Basler cameras are integrated via the pylon camera driver for the Robot Operating System (ROS).

Thanks to the integration of the Basler pylon Camera Software Suite into the drag&bot software, it is now possible to easily integrate Basler 2D cameras into your robot application.

Advantages

Many smaller companies have been reluctant to use robots with vision components because robot programming has been highly complex, time-consuming and costly. The drag&bot software simplifies programming and enables work with robots without the need for expensive specialist personnel.

  • Software for easy setup, programming and operation of industrial robots
  • Installation and calibration of Basler cameras with just a few clicks
  • Image processing functions usable via the graphical user interface of drag&bot
  • Intuitive operating and input aids (wizards) for your robot application

Why drag&bot?

The complex setup, programming and operation of industrial robots with vision systems has so far deterred many smaller companies from purchasing them. drag and bot GmbH, a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart, meets this challenge with software that enables even inexperienced users to operate robots. The company's vision is to make programming industrial robots as easy as using a smartphone. With the software drag&bot, the Stuttgart-based company comes very close to this goal.

The graphical user interface enables users to create program sequences from reusable function blocks using drag-and-drop. Special robotics knowledge or programming in manufacturer-specific robot programming languages are no longer necessary.
